Bone Grafting / Replacement

Bone grafting/replacement may be necessary where there is insufficient bone to place an implant.

There are two ways of bone augmentation:

  1. Bone grafting, in which bone is harvested from the patient or donor;
  2. Bone replacement, in which an artificially produced substance is integrated into the area and develops into the strength of the bone.

Bone replacement is a quick procedure with minimal discomfort done under local anaesthetic. The Oral Surgeon will discuss this procedure with you should it be required.
